The SB11 stands out due to its unique properties. Cabinets are sandwiched between wood slabs placed on top of a delicate steel lattice framework. Available in several lengths, different colours of cabinet surfaces, and a selection of natural wood finishes, the SB11 can be customized to individual preferences. It also offers optional features like cable management and ventilation openings, making it an ideal choice for an entertainment centre. Furthermore, it can be converted into a storage rack by stacking multiple layers on top of one another.
The SB11 is a product of meticulous craftsmanship. Made from naturally oiled wood, lacquered steel, and MDF, it boasts of a robust and elegant structure. The technical specifications of the SB11 include a width that ranges from 184 to 264 cm, a depth of 45 cm, and a height of 76 cm.
The SB11 is easy to use, thanks to its tip-on opening system. The overlapping wood slabs on the back facilitate easy cable management, making it a versatile piece of furniture, especially when used as an entertainment centre. The design process of the SB11 began in September 2015 and concluded in February 2016. It was successfully exhibited at the Salone del Mobile in April 2016.
The design of the SB11 was driven by research and a desire to create a sideboard that fits in with the producer's series, which started with the well-known table KT11. The producer, Palatti, specializes in wood and steel, making these the primary components of the SB11. Lacquered MDF elements were used to allow a wide range of colours. The biggest challenge was finding a suitable opening system, but a satisfactory solution was eventually found.
The SB11 is available in several lengths, in custom colour combinations of lacquered cabinet surfaces and a selection of wood finishes: oak, American walnut, or ash. It can be used for storing file folders, books, or upright vinyl records, and can be enhanced with optional features such as cable management, ventilation openings for audio/video equipment inside, and hidden sleeves for power connections to devices. The SB11 was awarded Silver in A' Furniture Design Award in 2017, a testament to its outstanding design and innovation.
